Publications

Jennifer Trivedi, an assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology and a core faculty member at the Disaster Research Center, has published her first book, Mississippi after Katrina: Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction on the Gulf CoastThe book is published with Lexington Books and traces the story of how pre-disaster processes and distinctions shaped the impact of Hurricane Katrina and long-term recovery in Biloxi, Mississippi. 

Robert Hampel, professor in the School of Education, has published an article titled "Entrance Exams in the 1920s: Correspondence Schools Decline the Invitation" in History of Education and Children's Literature, vol. XV, no. 2, 743-754. This article is the latest of a half dozen articles that Hampel has published on the history of distance education before the invention of personal computers. 

Presentations

Jessica L. Hortonassociate professor of art history, and Jennifer Van Horn,  associate professor of art history and history, spoke as part of the National Gallery of Art’s Wyeth Foundation for American Art Symposium, entitled "Feminism in American Art History." The virtual two-part symposium, held Dec. 4 to Dec. 11, included eight prerecorded lectures and a live panel discussion. Speakers addressed the latest thinking in the history and research of feminism and gender in American art. Horton presents "Diné-Mapuche Weaving and the Relational Roots of Ecofeminism" and Van Horn delivers "Shades of Her Ancestors: Early American Silhouettes and Enslaved Women." All lectures are available until Dec. 18, 2020. Jill Gugino Pante, director of Career Services at UD's Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, served on a panel, "Providing Tech Talent in the Face of a Virtual World" for the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce third annual Fintech Forum on Dec. 8, 2020. Pante's session with fellow panelists Dan Young, director of the Doctor of Business Administration Program at Goldey-Beacom College, and Lossie Freeman, director of Corporate Partnerships at Zip Code Wilmington, focused on attracting and retaining talent in today's competitive and virtual job market.

Trevor A. Dawes, vice provost for libraries and museums and May Morris University Librarian, was the invited keynote speaker at the inaugural Sharing Visions: 2020 New England Resource Sharing Conference on Nov. 18, 2020. In his talk, “Is True Resource Sharing Now a Reality?,” Dawes examined where libraries have been with respect to resource sharing and posited that resource sharing will be an even more integral part of libraries’ operations.

Jennifer Joe, Whitney Family Professor of Accounting, Cohen Family Lerner Director of Diversity and chief diversity advocate at UD's Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, was recently a featured panelist on The PhD Project's second annual talk, titled “Wonder Women Diversity Discussion," as part of the Project's annual conference. The goal of the talk was to strategize about how best to build the talent pipeline in diversity for unrepresented students pursuing business degrees and Ph.D.s. Honors

Myae Han

Myae Han, professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, recently received the Edgar Klugman Award for Lifetime Contribution of Research and Leadership in the Field of Play and Early Childhood Education from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)'s Play, Policy and Practice Forum. Han is passionate about promoting play in early childhood education. She has devoted her research connecting play with children’s language and literacy learning. Han served as the past  president of The Association for the Study of Play (TASP). She is currently a chair of Early Education/Child Development SIG at the American Educational Research Association (AERA).   

John D’Arcy, professor of management information systems has been recognized as the MIS Quarterly (MISQ) Associate Editor of the Year and the INFORMS Information Systems Research (ISR) Reviewer of the Year.
