UD earns a STARS Bronze rating
The University of Delaware has earned a STARS Bronze rating based on its accomplishments in campus sustainability. The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. STARS is administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) with participation from a wide range of higher education institutions. The framework was developed to engage and recognize the full spectrum of colleges and universities, from community colleges to research universities, and from institutions just starting sustainability initiatives to longtime campus sustainability leaders.
To improve communication about sustainability and benchmark against our peer institutions, UD’s STARS report was submitted to AASHE on Jan. 31, 2020. The University received a Bronze Rating under the STARS version 2.1. The STARS report will help the UD Sustainability Council, launched in spring 2020, to develop a sustainability plan to best use campus resources for maximum impact and to improve our sustainability performance in the future. We will continue to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create a more sustainable campus.
