Utility project to affect walkways around Memorial Hall

Excavation for the University of Delaware South Green Utility project will be moving closer to Memorial Hall, beginning the week of March 11.

At that time, pedestrian movement on the south side of Memorial Hall will be detoured around the construction site. Construction fencing will be moved north and close the walkway on the south side of Memorial Hall.

North-south access will be maintained on both sides of Memorial Hall. The east side of Memorial will be accessible via Mentors’ Circle and the Morris Library sidewalk and patio. Access to the west side of Memorial Hall and Lammot du Pont Laboratory will be from a temporary concrete sidewalk at the end of the ADA ramp to du Pont Lab.

This stage of construction is expected to last through spring break in early April. Once this stage is completed, construction in this area will be reduced, the fenced off construction site will be smaller and restoration of the area will begin.
