March 25-29: Safety Leadership Course
March 14, 2019
Safety course focuses on proactive safety leadership and planning
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports more than 5,000 job-related deaths annually, with fatalities stemming from transportation accidents, equipment-related incidents, fires and more.
Job training, injury safeguards and safety education all aim to reduce those incidents, but safety experts agree that a successful workplace safety mindset starts at the top, with organizational leaders committed to a total safety culture.
The University of Delaware’s new Safety Leadership and Planning course is aimed at developing proactive safety leaders, with emphasis on safety resilience and safety engineering and management principles. This intensive five-day course takes place March 25-29 in Newark and is relevant for safety leaders, executives, job-site managers or any professional charged with workplace or organizational safety. Topics include:
• Human error, human performance, behavior-based safety
• Systems safety approach
• Training program development
• Leadership and communications
UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) partners with the Delaware Valley Safety Council to offer this course, with discounts available for UD students or alumni, veterans/military, General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) members, or groups of two or more from the same organization.
