UDairy Creamery opens in Riverfront Market in Wilmington
Wilmington’s riverfront just got a little sweeter. During the summer of 2019, the University of Delaware’s UDairy Creamery opened its latest retail location in the Riverfront Market along the banks of the Christina River.
Located on South Orange Street, the Riverfront Market offers several casual dining options. The UDairy Creamery dipping stand is the market’s first ice cream retailer. This latest expansion follows the celebrated 2017 opening of the UDairy Creamery Market on Market Street in downtown Wilmington. In August 2017, the Creamery also added a catering program.
All UDairy Creamery locations are staffed by students and the Riverfront Market dipping stand is no exception. Twenty students from UD’s Associate in Arts Program are currently employed at the Market Street store and all will have the opportunity to work at the dipping stand.
“We are excited to expand our footprint in Wilmington and look forward to further reaching the community and businesses closer to the Riverfront,” said LeeAnne Ahamad, UDairy Market Manager. “Being able to increase the exposure of our program and the partnership we have with the University’s Associate in Arts Program downtown is essential to our growth, just as this opportunity for the students to gain further experience is essential to theirs.”
Eight to 10 hand-dipped ice cream flavors will be available for purchase each day. UDairy Creamery will be at the Riverfront Market location until Sept. 30, 2019, and the stand is open Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
