Wind warning for March 2-3
March 02, 2018
High winds expected throughout Delaware Friday into Saturday
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning, in effect for the state of Delaware from 11 a.m., today, March 2, until 6 a.m., Saturday, March 3.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected, and sustained wind speeds of at least 40 miles per hour and gusts of 58 miles per hour or more could lead to property damage.
Winds are expected to increase substantially Friday morning. Sustained northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are likely with gusts of 55 to 60 miles per hour possible through most of the day. Winds may down trees and power lines, causing power outages. Travel may be difficult particularly for high-profile vehicles.
Winds will start to subside Saturday morning but will remain between 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour, diminishing to 15 to 20 miles per hour.
