‘Worse Than You Think’ author to discuss Trump policies

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter David Cay Johnston, the author of three books about Donald Trump, will speak at the University of Delaware’s informal Front Page Café at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Deer Park Tavern, 108 W. Main Street, Newark. Refreshments will be served.

The event is designed to be a casual evening of conversation about policy, not politics.

Johnston, the first prominent journalist to predict that Trump could win the 2016 presidential race, is the author of the new book, It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration Is Doing to America, and two previous books about Trump.

Johnston first met the future president in 1988 and has tracked him since then, writing the bestselling The Making of Donald Trump and Temples of Chance.

Johnston, a former president of Investigative Reporters and Editors, teaches at Syracuse University College of Law. He has been a frequent guest on MSNBC, CNN, the BBC, Democracy Now and NPR’s Morning Edition, among other appearances.

The Front Page Café is a recent initiative by UD’s interdisciplinary Journalism Program. It is modeled on the UD Science Café series in both its mission of sharing important and diverse information and its manner, which is a conversation-based event in a relaxed environment.

In addition to the Journalism Program, the Front Page Café is co-sponsored by the departments of English and of Political Science and International Relations and the Center for Political Communication, all at UD, and by Delaware Humanities.
