Community Music School opens for fall

Wide variety of music instruction options available for all ages

The University of Delaware’s Community Music School (UDCMS), the outreach program of the Department of Music that has offered a wide variety of music instruction options to people of all ages for more than 30 years, has a variety of programs available in fall 2017.

The school will offer private study instruction for children, teens and adults on more than 20 instruments. See below for information on musical instruction for children as young as 4 years old (Suzuki).

Music For Young Minds, an early childhood music program which is filling up fast for this semester, provides music instruction for children from birth through age 6. Group classes offered include Suzuki guitar, violin, and piano for students ages 4-12 (includes private and group lessons/waitlist may apply: inquire for details); UD Youth Steel OrchestraGuitar EnsembleActing Class; and three different Children's Choirs.

All registered UDCMS students are eligible to join free Saturday music theory classes, and all members of the community are invited to attend the school's Saturday workshops, which will cover a variety of topics this fall ((details forthcoming).

Instruction at UDCMS is affordable, and the school offers several different kinds of discounts. There are opportunities for several recitals during the year. as well as performance opportunities with collegiate musical groups and at various off-campus venues.
