PCS launches new site and Destiny One

Redesigned website offers easier navigation and integrated course registration

The University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) launched its totally rebuilt website last month at www.pcs.udel.edu.

The new website provides a more user-friendly experience through improved navigation, easier-to-follow categorization, and easy-to-understand content.

The new site is WordPress-driven, making for easier customization and maintenance. Other functionality updates include improved search tools, enhanced live chat features, and integrated news and blog features.

Steven Kendus, UD PCS marketing and communication manager, views the new site as a much-needed upgrade. “While our previous website served its purpose of providing information about our programs and services, we realized a more modern look and feel were necessary,” Kendus said. “With this in mind, we focused on building a powerful, easy-to-use site that more effectively promoted PCS under the main UD brand.”

Adding a new layer of functionality, the website promotes fast, simple access to UD PCS program information and enables students to seamlessly enroll in programs. Integrated with Destiny One, a leading higher education customer lifecycle management system, the website streamlines the enrollment process for students and modernizes the payment, testing, reporting, and course management functions for UD PCS administrators.

Destiny One enables prospective students to easily research course, program, and conference details and provides a shopping-cart based enrollment and checkout experience. Using embedded Destiny One tools, students can create profiles; track their courses, grades and transcripts; schedule proctored test sessions; request additional information; and register to receive automatic updates notifying them of new discounts and program offerings.

Shaun Sutherell, UD PCS assistant director of business development and program management, sees great potential for the system. “Implementing Destiny One and integrating it with our new website is already increasing efficiency within UD PCS and is enhancing our services to students, faculty, and our UD partners,” Sutherell said. “As we enter into our busy registration and enrollment periods over the next several months, we will continue to see Destiny’s benefits in the areas of reporting, enrollment tracking, and student outreach.”

The new PCS website will be frequently updated with course and program information, events, news, and student resources. To explore the site, visit http://www.pcs.udel.edu/
