Kent Dining closing, Russell to reopen

Kent Dining Hall to be replaced this fall by newly renovated Russell on East Campus

The University of Delaware community is bidding farewell to one of UD Dining’s oldest locations and celebrating the reopening of a classic eatery with modern renovations.

Kent Residential Dining Hall’s final meal before closing its doors will be on Tuesday, May 16,  from 5-7:30 pm. This upscale dinner will pay homage to Kent Dining’s 90-year tenure on campus. Guests can expect to enjoy special menu items, including seared frenched chicken breast, scalloped potato au gratin, creamy lobster mac and cheese, butternut squash and tomato barley, a chef’s choice dessert station and more.

The UD community is invited to attend Kent’s final meal. Acceptable payment methods include meal swipes, points, Flex and cash.

Opening for the fall semester, the newly renovated Russell Residential Dining Hall will serve as a dining option for students on East Campus. Russell Dining is situated off Haines Street alongside the Harrington Turf.

The dining hall’s interior will be refreshed to an industrial style reminiscent of the Caesar Rodney Fresh Food Company, with new café-style seating and an open floorplan. Perhaps the most striking change inside Russell will be its new centerpiece: a brick pizza oven. The brick oven brings with it the capability to create hand-crafted, fresh dough pizzas in artisanal varieties, including white clam and two-cheese with apple and pancetta.

The location also will offer increased selections of vegan and vegetarian options, as well as weekly rotisserie menu items, and will host the return of student favorites like Le Mac and veggie bowls.

Russell Dining will be open for weekday breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reopening celebrations will be announced prior to the beginning of fall semester.
