May 31: Send off celebration

Delaware Baseball NCAA Send Off Celebration set Wednesday morning

The University of Delaware will honor the Blue Hen baseball team with a Send-Off Celebration at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, for the squad's trip to Lubbock, Texas, for the NCAA Regionals this weekend.

The event is open to the public and will be held in front of Delaware Field House, located next to Delaware Stadium on South College Avenue. After the celebration, the team will depart for the flight from New Castle, Delaware, to Lubbock, Texas.

Delaware has advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001 after capturing the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title on May 27 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The No. 4 seed Hens will take on No. 1 seed and third-ranked Texas Tech at 3 p.m. (EST), Friday, June 2, in the opening round of the three-day, double-elimination tournament. Texas Tech is the host school. Arizona and Sam Houston State will play in the other first round game.

The Blue Hens (34-21), who have won 10 of their last 11 games, are the lone Division I team in the Delaware Valley participating in this year's NCAA Tournament.
