UD's Romagnoli named CAA men's lacrosse player of week
University of Delaware sophomore attackman Andrew Romagnoli has been named the Colonial Athletic Association men's lacrosse co-player of the week.
Sharing co-player of week honors with Romagnoli was Hofstra goalkeeper Jack Concannon. Hofstra’s Ryan Tierney was named the CAA rookie of the week.
Romagnoli was honored for the second time this season after also being named the CAA player of the week on Feb. 14.
Romagnoli led UD to a pair of victories with eight goals and two assists for 10 points this week. He opened the week with four goals and an assist in the 15-9 win over VMI on Tuesday. He then led UD to its third straight victory and its fourth straight road win with a 13-10 triumph at Villanova. He posted a team-high four goals and also dished out an assist as part of a five-point day. He scored twice in the first half to give UD an early lead and helped keep Villanova at bay with a pair of fourth quarter goals.
Romagnoli has now scored a hat trick in five of the six games this season and has four goals in four of the games. He leads the Blue Henswith 19 goals and 26 points on the season.
The Blue Hens also have had two other CAA award winners this season, as freshmen Charlie Kitchen and Matt DeLuca have each been named CAA rookie of the week in previous weeks.
