10 UD track and field athletes honored by Colonial Athletic Association

The Colonial Athletic Association announced its post-season women’s track and field honors this week and 10 University of Delaware standouts were recognized for their accomplishments during the spring season.

Earning All-CAA honors based on their top three finishes at the CAA championships held May 5-6 at UD were CAA discus champion Sarah Hillman, Ashley Bailey (pole vault), Liz McGroarty (800 meters, 1,500 meters), Jeanette Bendolph (800 meters), Leslie Ope (100 meter hurdles), London Freeland (400 meter hurdles; 4x400 meter relay),  Carolyn Darr (4x100 meter hurdles; 4x400 meter hurdles), Isis Pinkney (4x100 meter relay), Haley Berkeley (4x100 meter relay), Tyler Jackson (4x100 meter relay), Nadia Khoury (4x400 meter relay) and Carly Pettipaw (4x400 meter relay). 

Pettipaw was also honored as part of the CAA All-Academic Team, which honors one student-athlete from each conference team based on outstanding achievements in the classroom. Pettipaw is a biomedical engineering major who is a three-time member of the CAA Academic Honor Roll, a CoSIDA Academic All-American nominee and a dean’s list student. 

She placed second in the 4x400 meter relay and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles at the CAA championships and went on to earn All-East honors by placing seventh in the 4x400 meter relay and eighth in the 400 meter hurdles at the ECAC championships in May. 

Also earning spots on the CAA All-Academic Team were Alexis Dickerson (University of North Carolina Wilmington), Zanae Freeland (Towson), Leia Mistowski (William and Mary), Tessa Mundell (James Madison), Briana O’Grady (Elon), Julisa Tindall (College of Charleston) and Audrey Weyand (Northeastern).
