Feb. 15: Heart Health event

Free fitness demos, massages, blood pressure screenings offered
University of Delaware Recreation, Healthy HENS and Employee Health and Wellbeing will host the inaugural Heart Health event on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
The event will be held in Gym 1 of the Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob) from 4-7 p.m. and is open to all UD students and employees.
The event aims to educate university members on campus resources that will help them maintain a heart healthy lifestyle in support of February being American Heart Month.
Free fitness class demos, massages, assorted fresh fruit, blood pressure screenings, and a nutrition demonstration on how to build a healthier snack or mini-meal will be available. The free fitness demo schedule is as follows:
• 4:15-5 p.m., Bodypump.
• 5:15-6 p.m., Kickboxing/HIIT.
• 6:15-7 p.m., Zumba.
Several registered student organizations also will be present with heart health information related to exercise, nutrition, alcohol and tobacco use, stress management, and more.
All attendees will be entered into a prize raffle for the chance to win a Fitbit, unlimited fitness class pass, Main Street gift cards, Tupperware sets, and more.
University students and employees are also invited to take the heart health pledge at the Little Bob throughout the month. Pledge cards are available on the first floor of the student fitness center and signed copies will be displayed on the walls surrounding the water fountain area.
