University of Delaware junior Becky Gohsler has been named the Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse player of the week.

Gohsler exploded for a career-best six goals as UD defeated Georgetown, 10-9, in the season opener for both squads at Delaware Stadium on Saturday.

Her goal and point totals doubled her previous career-best while she became the first Blue Hen to record at least six goals in the season opener since 1988. The midfielder also tied a career-high with three ground balls.

Elon’s Alexis Zadjura was named the CAA defensive player of the week while Towson’s Sami Chenoweth collected rookie of the week accolades.

The Blue Hens return to Delaware Stadium to host No. 11 Penn at noon, Saturday, Feb. 18.
