UD field hockey remains No. 12 in latest national poll

With an overall mark of 6-2, the University of Delaware field hockey remained in the No. 12 spot with 352 votes in this week’s Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association coaches poll.

This past week, the Blue Hens cruised to an 8-2 victory over Columbia before holding on for a 5-4 win against Indiana with both matches held at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.

Syracuse (7-0) maintained its top spot with 834 points and 25 first place votes while Duke (8-0) holds on to the No. 2 position with 822 points and 12 first place votes. Connecticut (8-0) jumped two places to No. 3 with 782 points and four first place votes. Penn State (8-0; 757 points; three first place votes) and North Carolina (6-2; 692 points) rounded out the top five.

The next Penn Monto/NFHCA poll will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 27.  The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection into the NCAA tournament.

The Hens host No. 20 Albany on Friday, Sept. 23, with a 7 p.m. start at Fred P. Rullo Stadium before traveling to Easton, Pennsylvania, to take on Lafayette at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25. All UD field hockey regular season contests at Fred P. Rullo Stadium are open to the public and free of charge.
