Dec. 2: 'We Stand With You'
November 28, 2016
Demonstration to show UD solidarity set on North Green
“We Stand With You,” a demonstration to show solidarity with diverse campus individuals and communities, will be held from noon-1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, on the University of Delaware’s North Green.
The event will begin at noon, with participants gathering on the North Green while resources are distributed.
There will be short speeches from 12:30-12:50 p.m., and closing remarks will follow.
The event is for the entire UD community – students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities – and is described as a way to show commitment to principles of community, compassion, decency and respect.
“We are and we stand with our black, Muslim, Jewish, LGBTQ+, Latinx, Asian, and Native American communities, along with people without papers, people with disabilities, women and girls, and immigrants and refugees – with all people working for equity and justice,” said Lisa Jaremka, assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences who is co-organizing the event along with other faculty and a host of undergraduate students.
She encouraged those with interest to show solidarity by their physical presence, and said those who attend should feel free to bring signs.
