Nov. 12: International Games Day
November 01, 2016
University Library to host International Games Day activities
The University of Delaware Library will host International Games Day from noon-5 p.m., Saturday, Nov.12, throughout the Morris Library.
International Games Day was created by the American Library Association in 2008, and takes place in libraries all over the world. It is a yearly event, with a mission to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games.
This is the third year that the University of Delaware Library will participate. The event is co-sponsored by several UD registered student organizations devoted to gaming in all its forms.
In addition to the student groups, the faculty-led Game Studies Working Group and local game store, the Days of Knights, will also be leading sessions.
Nico Carver, senior assistant librarian, Multimedia Collections and Services Department, is organizing the event. Activities are scheduled over the entire five hours of the event, but participants will want to arrive at noon for a special kick-off session and refreshments in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room.
The event is open to the public, and more information is available on the Facebook event page.
International Games Day is one of more than 30 events featured during UD Global Month. The Institute for Global Studies invites members of the campus community to go global this November by exploring the cultures, politics, food and environments of countries across the globe, and celebrating the more than 4,000 international students, scholars and their family members who call UD “home.”
