Five Blue Hens named to All-Mid-Atlantic field hockey team

Following the first national championship in program history, five members of the University of Delaware field hockey team were named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Mid-Atlantic Region squad.

The Blue Hens, who finished the year with a 19-game winning streak and an overall mark of 23-2, had three players on the first team and two on the second team.

“Winning the national championship was a true team accomplishment," said UD head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "Looking back on our journey, it has been an amazing season in which our players group utilized every hockey and team moment to become stronger physically and mentally, and more consistent and mature technically and tactically. As a team is a collection of individuals, I am very excited that the Division I coaches and the NFHCA Regional All-American Committee have selected five great Blue Hens to represent our team and program on the Mid-Atlantic regional teams. Congrats to Taylor, Greta, Esmée, Lisa and Emmeline for their contributions to our team this season and earning the recognition from the Division I coaching community.”

Senior Esmée Peet led the way with her fourth first team honor while junior Taylor Lister and sophomore Greta Nauck each garnered first team accolades for the first time in their careers.

Sophomore Lisa Giezeman was tabbed a second team selection for the second straight season while junior Emmeline Oltmans collected her first-ever second team honor.

Nauck, the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year, finished the season first nationally with 3.04 points per game and 1.32 goals per game on a school record 76 points and 33 goals, including 10 game-winning tallies. In just two seasons for UD, the midfielder is seventh in program history with 103 career points on 44 goals and 15 assists.

Peet completed the year with 25 points on nine goals and seven assists while garnering her fourth All-CAA first team selection. The midfielder finished her career ranked fourth all-time with 120 career points and 48 goals and sixth with 24 assists.

Lister, who also picked up All-CAA first team accolades for the first time in her career, posted 21 points on five goals and 11 assists for UD while collecting NCAA All-Tournament Team honors.

Giezeman tied for second for the Hens this season with 25 points on nine goals and seven assists and was also an All-CAA second team selection.

Oltmans registered a 1.42 goals allowed average (GAA) with 86 saves at a clip of .729.  Also a NCAA All-Tournament Team and All-CAA first team honoree, the goalie placed 13th nationally with her GAA and first overall with a 92.0 winning percentage.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division I regional players of the year will be announced on Thursday, with the All-America squad coming on out Dec. 7 and the national player of the year named on Dec. 14.
