New signal regulates pedestrian, vehicular traffic on East Main Street
The city of Newark has installed a new traffic/pedestrian signal at the crosswalk on East Main Street, just east of The Green and Elliott Hall.
Previously at this location, motor vehicles were required to yield to pedestrians crossing the street.
With the new signal, both pedestrian and vehicular traffic are regulated by the traffic signal.
Members of the community are reminded to be aware of this change in the crossing and to observe the new traffic signal. Both drivers and pedestrians now need to wait for the light.
Over the next two weeks, University of Delaware Police will have officers at the crossing during class change, and the Newark Police Department will have provide coverage in the evenings.
