The UD MakerSpace and Horn Entrepreneurship help bring product ideas to life.
Do you have an innovative idea for something you'd like to make that can improve the lives of others but need design, funding or fabrication help? Anywhere you are on the innovation roadmap — ideation, proof of concept, prototyping or small batch production — the Make it Happen Challenge is an excellent opportunity to get access to the tools you need and bring your ideas to life. Your imagination is the limit.
The UD MakerSpace and Horn Entrepreneurship are excited to announce the first such design challenge at UD. You will work with the MakerSpace’s state of the art equipment for design conception, training and the fabrication of your idea into physical items. Prior making experience is never required. This challenge is open to any UD students, teams or clubs — undergrad and grad. Proposals are due by Sept 17, 2021.
The Make It Happen Challenge offers 5+ award packages with a total value of over $25,000. Each award package includes:
• A monetary grant covering supplies and materials (up to $3,000).
• Up to 20 hours of hands-on training and design consultation.
Proposals will be evaluated for their cost-effectiveness, innovativeness and overall impact potential. Applicants with the most promising proposals will be invited to pitch their idea in front of an audience and external evaluation award panel on Sept 24, 2021.
