Introducing Hinge Health: Your new benefit to help reduce joint and muscle pain

Starting on July 1, 2025 you will have access to Hinge Health. With Hinge Health, members enrolled in University of Delaware health coverage can get virtual exercise therapy and more at no additional cost to you. Help reduce everyday joint and muscle aches, recover from an injury, improve your mobility and strength/relieve pelvic pain and discomfort.

Partner with real people who are dedicated to helping you feel your best with personalized care that includes:

  • A care plan designed for your everyday activities and long-term goals — and to treat multiple areas of your body at once
  • Exercise therapy sessions you can do in as little as 15 minutes — anytime, anywhere with the Hinge Health app
  • 1-on-1 support from a physical therapist or health coach to tailor your sessions as needed and help you reach your goals
  • Instant feedback during your exercise sessions with precise motion tracking — to improve your form and build confidence

UD Exercise Counseling

Exercise counseling is beneficial for anyone looking to start, improve, or maintain their current physical activity routine. Clinical exercise physiologists can help clients prevent or manage chronic health conditions, weight, stress and/or anxiety.

Options for counseling include:

Option 1: Individuals with chronic health conditions may now qualify for our supervised exercise program, this includes an initial fitness screening followed by 25 FREE exercise sessions in our fitness center at the Tower at STAR, the program is supervised by Clinical Exercise Physiologists with students in training. After your initial sessions, you will be given the option to opt into a pay for fee service (monthly charge of $40.00) and continue with us, or to discontinue your participation. Chronic health conditions that would qualify are listed below:

  • Cardiovascular disease (high blood pressure alone would not qualify)
  • Pulmonary disease (no supplemental oxygen)
  • Type I or II Diabetes (pre-diabetes alone would not qualify)
  • Recent Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Long Covid diagnosis

Option 2: Individuals who do not qualify for the first option can participate in 6 visits  with our team. These visits include a comprehensive health and fitness evaluation (visit 1) and 5 exercise sessions in our clinic where our team will develop an exercise program for you and coach you through it. This option is $100.00 total for all 6 sessions.

UD Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation provides a wide range of fitness options for employees, retirees and their families. Group fitness classes, include Cycle, Pilates, Barre, Yoga, BODYPUMP, and HIIT, catering to different preferences and fitness levels. If you're looking for personalized guidance, personal training sessions are available for either 30 or 60 minutes to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Carpenter Sports Building (CSB) Access

University of Delaware employees and retirees can access UD’s main recreation facility by swiping their UDID during operating hours. The CSB or “Lil Bob” houses a three-floor fitness center, indoor pool, rock wall, CrossFit space, workout studios, racquetball courts, employee locker rooms, employee fitness space, gymnasiums line for volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, badminton and pickleball. Campus Recreation Fitness Package (CRFP)

For $75 per program year (or 75 wellness dollars), University of Delaware employees and retirees with valid UDID may purchase a CRFP for access to the following benefits:

  • No-cost Campus Recreation fitness classes. Must register online at recreation.udel.edu, discounted price will show in cart.
  • Discount on locker rental. 
  • Discounted Personal Training packages, Fitness Assessments, InBody Assessments and Special Fitness Programs through Campus Recreation. Must register online at recreation.udel.edu, discounted price will show in cart.
