Areas of Expertise
- Current research focuses on loyalism and empire from the American Revolution through the 1820s. Teaches courses in American literature and culture from the seventeenth through the mid-nineteenth century with strong interests in visual culture, theories of sovereignty and the state, and the intersection of literature and politics.
- Conversant in the American Revolution, the US Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the early American Novel.
- Published a brief essay in Britain's The Independent (2015), and appeared in Sir Melvyn Bragg's BBC documentary on Thomas Paine (2014).
