Areas of Expertise
- A civil engineer specializing in geotechnical engineering (solving problems involving soils and rock). Well versed in soil shear strength, soil laboratory testing, ground improvement, the use of geosynthetics in soils, slope stability, and landslides.
- Teaches design for many civil engineering structures such as foundations, retaining walls, reinforced earth structures, dams, levees, etc.
- Has expertise in intelligent compaction, the use of drones in construction, and other forms of robotics and automation in construction.
- Currently conducting research exploring the effect of sea level rise and extreme events on soils and infrastructure.
