


UD celebrates graduate students April 7-11

Appreciation week features variety of events
In support and appreciation of the contributions, impact and value of graduate students, the University of Delaware Graduate College is joining other institutions around the country in the annual celebration of Graduate Student Appreciation Week, April 7-11.
The festivities are starting a week early, April 1-4, with some graduate students sharing a day in their life on the Graduate College Instagram account. Throughout Graduate Student Appreciation Week, participants will submit their best photos, and Instagram followers will choose the winner. The student with the most votes will be announced at the UDairy with the Dean event on April 11 and will be awarded one free month of group fitness classes at UD.
José-Luis Riera, vice president for student life and interim chief diversity officer; will host a coffee hour (9-10 a.m.) in the Perkins Student Center Graduate Student Lounge on April 8. Later that day in the same location (4-5:30 p.m.), “From Grad to Great: Black Scholars' Journeys” will consist of a panel discussion featuring diverse voices from faculty, student life and industry,
On April 9 (4-7 p.m.), six UD students will give ignite new conversations, ideas and collaborations among diverse researchers and professionals through short-form, engaging presentations and audience participation at the Spark! Symposium on the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus.
The celebrations conclude with a pair of events on April 11. First, Lou Rossi, dean of the Graduate College; will host UDairy with the Dean (3:30-4:30 p.m.) in the Graduate Student Lounge. Afterward, students are encouraged to head over to the Trabant University Center for International Coffee Hour (4-6 p.m.).
