Oct. 5: Sinta Quartet opens Master Players Concert Series’ 21st season
October 02, 2024
Award-winning saxophone quartet to perform an inspired “New Traditions” program
The Master Players Concert Series’ 21st season opens this Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at 3 p.m. in Gore Recital Hall with a concert titled "Gold Medalists: The Sinta Quartet."
Since making history as the first saxophone ensemble to win the Victor Elmaleh First Prize from the Concert Artists Guild Competition in 2013, the Sinta Quartet has won numerous gold medals and grand prizes, published three acclaimed albums and performed in great halls and nontraditional venues around the world. Praised as "virtuosic to the core" (Textura), the ensemble engages deeply with audiences by programming a unique blend of repertoire that includes classical favorites, modern commissions by leading composers and in-house arrangements, all performed entirely from memory.
This concert’s “New Traditions” program will feature an eclectic mix of works by Antonín Dvořák, György Ligeti, Mark O'Connor, Jay Ungar and Béla Fleck, as well as the world premiere of Bill Ryan’s "Tiny Machines."
The Master Players Concert Series 2024-2025 season concerts are selling out quickly. Tickets are $35 for adults; $30 for seniors and UD faculty, staff and alumni; and $10 for students.
Tickets for the Oct. 5 concert will be available for purchase in the CFA Lobby by cash, check or card starting one hour prior to the performance.
