Mental Health Support

We understand that your mental and physical health are fundamental to your wellbeing and student experience. There are a variety of wellbeing support resources available to you as a student.

Return to Campus Following Off-Campus Mental Health Assessment

If you have been referred by the Center for Counseling and Student Development or the University of Delaware Police Department for an off-campus assessment to determine if a higher level of care is needed, please know that our staff in Student Advocacy & Support are here to support you upon your return to campus and classes.

Once you are discharged, please respond to our email to schedule a meeting. Our meeting will provide a space to discuss your experience and plan for moving forward. We will ensure you are connected to all possible resources on and off campus to help ease the transition back to campus and minimize any disruption to your academics. This includes assisting with excused absences and communication to your faculty.

If you have any questions, please email us at studentsupport@udel.edu or call us at 302-831-8939.

Other campus mental health support services

In-Person Support

Students have access to a number of mental health services on campus and remotely. The Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) provides individual and group counseling to thousands of UD students each year. All counseling services are covered by the UD Wellbeing Fee for full-time students. Part-time students also can elect to pay this fee to access the same care.

24/7 Virtual Support

If you would prefer instead to meet virtually, immediate virtual mental health support is available through TimelyCare's TalkNow service: 24/7, on-demand emotional support to talk about anything, including anxiety, relationships, depression and school-related stressors.

Referral Support

Through a robust referral program, CCSD strives to address the mental health concerns of students, whether those are best served by one of their in-house clinicians or an outside provider.

CCSD has a care coordinator available for students and their families who would like assistance connecting with mental health services, including individual and group therapy and medication management. CCSD may refer a student off campus if, in the clinician's judgment, the student's counseling requirements fall beyond the scope of our services.
