Funding Your Program
- Student Initiated Programs can be funded up to $40. All you have to do is submit your proposal and share what you’re hoping to do!
- Our goal is to help make this process easy for you - our staff is happy to assist in shopping for event supplies for you. Additionally, you are welcome to shop and be reimbursed for your purchases (up to your approved funding allocation). Reimbursements can be provided as either a check or Flex Account funds.
- If you shop for your own program, you must save your receipt to be reimbursed.
- Receipts must be itemized with each item purchased, the cost of each item, and the total spent.
- Some students opt to include prizes in their programs. We are happy to assist in funding appropriate prizes using these guidelines:
- One prize per program
- The prize must be related to the purpose of the program. For example, for a yoga-related program, an appropriate prize would be a yoga mat.
- Any multi-use item is expected to be returned to the RA Staff Office for future community use.
Food
SIPs sometimes include food for attendees! This is not an exhaustive list, but here are some ideas to get you thinking about what kind of food could be requested for your event. Work with your neighbors, RHC/GHD or RA to brainstorm ideas for your event.
- Popcorn
- Chips / cookies
- Candy / Ice cream
- Snack size servings of hummus / dips
Encourage event attendees to bring their own beverage, or work with your RHC/GHD to reserve event-safe drinks. (Note: UD reimbursements can only be provided for Pepsi products)
It’s always a good idea to consider any dietary restrictions that those in your community may have.
Event Ideas
Below are some ideas that can help you envision what type of program you would like to host within your residence hall community. Your RA and RHC/GHD are great resources as you go through the planning process.
