The University of Delaware offers programs for students as young as five and up through students getting ready for college. Everything from college prep, to music classes and agriculture is on offer. Our programs are designed to promote creative and intellectual growth for all in the community.


Edge Summer College Program
The UD Edge summer college program offers high school students moving into their junior or senior year the opportunity to earn college credit with the challenge, independence and excitement that can only be found at a top national university.
College Readiness Scholars Institute
UD's College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI) is a free summer program for Delaware high school students, equipping them for college and motivating them to succeed as new leaders in their community and the wider world.

Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics
Presented as a “visit to the teacher’s desk,” the Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics helps minimize students’ loss of proficiency over the summer by providing them with an instructor-led environment for reviewing and practicing skills learned over the previous year as well as receiving guided instruction on topics to be covered in the grade they are entering.

Delaware 4-H Program
If you think that 4-H is just for rural kids, you’ll be surprised to find out that you’re wrong. Delaware 4-H has something for each of the over 35,000 young people who participate in 4-H each year throughout the State of Delaware. 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization with nearly six million young people across the U.S. involved in experiences that develop critical life skills.
4-H grows confident young people who are empowered for life today and prepared for careers tomorrow. It is the place where learning is fun, whether it takes place in your school, at camp, in your community or at the University of Delaware. There are plenty of exciting adventures that you can have in your community, state, country and all over the world.

Environment, Climate and Ocean (ECO) Camp (Grades 8-12)
Environment, Climate and Ocean (ECO) Camp is an instructional camp for students entering grades 8 through 12, focusing on the atmospheric, oceanic, and biogeochemical processes at work in the Delaware Bay.

Autonomous Driving Academy
Created in collaboration with the Connected and Autonomous Research Laboratory (CAR Lab) at the University of Delaware and UD’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences, our competitive, application-based, five-day program is designed to immerse participants in the rapidly evolving field of autonomous vehicle technology. This noncredit, pre-college course is tailored for high school students eager to gain a deep understanding of the core principles and practical applications of autonomous driving systems. Students will assemble autonomous robots and work with a team to implement and optimize autonomous driving systems that simulate real-world autonomous driving scenarios.
Forensic Science Pre-College Summer Program
Take on the challenges critical to providing evidence that solves a criminal case in this one-week program designed for high school students interested in real-world forensic techniques. In this noncredit program led by UD faculty and forensic experts from the Department of Medical and Molecular Sciences, students will experience what it’s like to work a crime scene and process evidence in state-of-the-art laboratories at the University of Delaware and the Delaware Division of Forensic Science. Students will produce and present a “court-ready” report to a panel of forensic scientists from Delaware’s Division of Forensic Science and the Delaware State Police in the program’s capstone experience.

The Diamond Challenge
The Diamond Challenge is a global entrepreneurship competition for high school students around the world with $100,000 in awards.
Dual Enrollment & Continuing Education
Through established partnerships with local high schools, academically qualified juniors and seniors can participate in the University's Dual Enrollment Program, taking courses that allow them to concurrently satisfy high school requirements and earn University of Delaware credits. Courses are delivered on-site at local high schools, through interactive online streaming from UD’s Newark campus to Delaware high school classrooms, and online. High school students may also schedule an appointment with a Professional & Continuing Studies ACCESS Center advisor to discuss taking University courses as Continuing Education, Non-Degree students.

Entrepreneurial Ventures Summer Program
The Entrepreneurial Ventures summer program is a partnership between Horn Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware and Schoolyard Ventures, an organization that develops university-level learning opportunities for ambitious high school students. During the intensive two-week program, students will learn from experienced entrepreneurs about what it takes to identify and solve real-world problems. They will have the opportunity to develop and test their own ideas and build the skills and mindset of successful entrepreneurs. By the end of the program, they will be able to identify business opportunities, develop a plan for launching a venture, test their ideas in the real world, and present their ideas to potential investors and advocates. The program will culminate in a graduation event where students present their ventures, accomplishments and personal development experiences.
The Perry Initiative
At The Perry Initiative, we are committed to inspiring young women to be leaders in the exciting fields of Orthopaedic Surgery and Engineering. We advance our mission principally by running hands-on outreach programs across the country for women students in high school, college, and medical school.
Summer Career & Life Studies Certificate (CLSC) (Grades 10-12)
Summer CLSC provides rising Juniors and Seniors with disabilities the opportunity to test out college life while living on the University of Delaware campus for one week during the summer. Throughout the program students engage in a series of individualized job shadowing experiences, course sit-ins, and workshops. Following the week on campus, Summer CLSC staff collaborate with the student and his/her family and school support team to create and implement a post-secondary career/education plan.
Upward Bound Classic
Upward Bound Classic provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree, and low-income, first-generation military veterans who are preparing to enter postsecondary education. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. All Upward Bound projects must provide instruction in math, laboratory science, composition, literature and foreign language.

The College of Education and Human Development offers a program that supports Delawarean high school students from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in becoming teachers.
Rising high school juniors and seniors are invited to enroll in our Summer Institute for two weeks in June. Participants will receive support during the college application process, engage with a community of future educators, and grow as a leader.

Governor's School of Excellence
The Delaware Governor’s School of Excellence is a one-week summer residential program that brings together academically and artistically talented Delaware high school students who have completed their sophomore year. Students live in residence halls on the Newark campus and attend either the academic program or the visual and performing arts program. Students are nominated to participate in Governor’s School through their schools in a competitive application process.
SAT & ACT Test Prep.
The UD Professional & Continuing Studies SAT and ACT course is an intensive test prep program that provides students with the tools they need to prepare for and ace the SAT and ACT exam. The condensed format is a convenient way for students to develop essential test-taking skills and tools. Students are provided with an in-depth review of the exam materials, insight into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests, and a comprehensive study plan.

Fashion Open House
Each year, the Fashion and Apparel Studies Department offers a unique opportunity for high school junior and seniors interested in exploring our majors in Fashion Merchandising and Management and Fashion Design and Product Innovation. Prospective students will meet our faculty, tour our department, participate in workshops, interact with current students and learn more about the many opportunities our programs provide. It is a great time for high school juniors and seniors to sit with our current students and ask questions about our department, the University of Delaware, and college life! The Fashion Open House is normally scheduled each year in the Fall. Check back to our website for the specific day and time as well as registration information!
