Volunteer Shout-Outs - February 2025

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations relies on a team of dedicated Blue Hen volunteers to strengthen the connections between alumni, students and the University through a variety of programs and events. Volunteers' many contributions include planning and helping to lead regional, affinity and reunion events, offering mentorship and professional development opportunities to students and serving as proud ambassadors of UD.

Here, we regularly spotlight volunteers that enhance the UD experience for students and alumni.

"We love volunteering for the University of Delaware because it allows us to give back to a community that provided so much for us, both academically as well as in our overall lives."

Eric and Hillary Rosen, proud Double Dels, have been enthusiastic and dedicated UD volunteers in multiple roles since graduating.

Eric serves on the UDAA Board of Directors Executive Committee, where he is deputy chair of the Finance Committee, and he also gives back by mentoring students through the Lerner Executive Mentoring Program. Previously, he led as president of the Northern New Jersey/New York City Blue Hen Network, strengthening alumni connections in the region.

Hillary is an active member of the College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) Dean’s Advisory Council and has mentored UD students through UD’s career mentoring programs.

Together, they participate in UD Alumni and Homecoming Weekends, UD giving days, and NYC regional events. Their commitment to UD extends beyond volunteerism—they are proud True Blue Hens and Delaware Diamonds Society donors.

Let’s hear from Eric and Hillary:

Why do we volunteer at UD? “We love volunteering for the University of Delaware because it allows us to give back to a community that provided so much for us, both academically as well as in our overall lives. Many of our best friends are from UD, and over 15 years later they are still our support system through life!”

Eric added “And on a career note, I can personally say that I have been helped many times from my UD alumni network, which is why I personally make every effort to pick up every phone call from students and recent grads who are looking for help or career advice. It is repaying the same kindness and generosity that was shared with me when I was starting to make my way into Finance.”

Favorite UD Memory? “Our newest favorite experience was bringing our now 14-month-old son Benny to his first UD Homecoming game! We tailgated for four hours in front of the field house, reconnected with so many friends as they stopped by our tailgate, and attended (most of) the football game prior to bedtime. It was so much fun being able to share one of our passions with our son.”
