General Scholarship Fund Donor Impact
In the 2023‒2024 academic year, 310 UD students were awarded a total of $664,978 in scholarships from the General Scholarship Fund, with $2,145 as the average scholarship per student.
This support allows students to achieve their dreams of a college education while helping the University create global citizens who are well-prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
This year, most scholarship recipients were seniors, ensuring they could complete their studies and graduate on time.
Here's what scholarship recipients are saying:
Chelsea Cohen, BSPA24, AS24
"I have grown tremendously as a student leader on this campus with the help of many staff members at UD and my academic professors, but my ability to continue as a student at UD and grow and experience all that I have thus far is in large part due to donors who have provided to funds that I was able to utilize. I firmly believe that women of color need to spend more time thanking themselves for how far they have gotten, so I take pride in how much I have excelled, academically and professionally, at UD, but I also believe in staying humble and true to one's roots... I will forever be grateful for the folks who created the opportunity for me to flourish here at UD and I can't thank them enough."
Yaren Usul, EG24
"My motivation to come to UD came from being a Delaware resident and having a sibling who had graduated from UD as well. UD felt like a home away from home because I would visit my older brother a lot when he was in college, so I already felt comfortable around campus. I also knew UD had a great STEM program which made this a perfect option for me. My inspiration to be a Biomedical Engineering (BMEG) major came when I realized that I wanted my future career to be hands-on and focused on creating. But I also enjoyed learning about medicine. So, BMEG was the best of both worlds for me, combining medicine with hands-on engineering. My goal is to specialize in surgical robotic technology or rehabilitation engineering."
