#GivingTuesday 2020 Recap
Thank you to the generous donors who supported UD student- and faculty-led projects and the Blue Hen Strong Fund on GivingTuesday, which took place on December 1, 2020. Your collective giving will have direct and immediate impact on all of the important efforts, including the graduate student funds, student organization initiatives, community engagement programs and more.
The Blue Hen Strong Fund was highlighted during the day as well, with more than 856 donors contributing more than $44,532 to help Blue Hens who need it the most as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.* The fund has helped provide housing, necessary technology, tuition assistance and more.
One of the projects that had an outpouring of support on GivingTuesday was the Assistive Devices for People with Physical Disabilities initiative.
“Giving Tuesday donors contributed $2,750 for the Assistive Devices for People with Physical Disabilities initiative,” Ashley Pigford, UD Associate Professor of Art and Design & Co-Director, Interaction Design Lab. “The funds will go directly to materials, tools and resources I need to continue making devices that assist with activities of daily living for people with physical disabilities. The goal of this work is to help them become more independent. Supporters are making a real difference and directly impacting the lives of people who need my help.”
Every gift to the University makes a meaningful difference for the students, faculty, staff and innovative programs. If you missed supporting UD on GivingTuesday, mark you calendars for May 5, 2021—this year’s I Heart UD Giving Day. You’ll be able to support a student-, faculty- or staff-led initiative that means the most to you!
