DICAS application
The program is using the on-line centralized internship application DICAS, which may be accessed at https://page.liaisonedu.com/dicas/apply, e-mail DICASinfo@DICAS.org. The on-line application must be completed for our program by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on January 18, 2025. The fee to use DICAS is $50 for the first application submitted and $25 for each additional application. When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each of their three references. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online. We recommend obtaining references from two faculty members and 1 work or volunteer supervisor. However, extensive work experience may warrant submission of 2 work references and 1 faculty reference. Please give careful consideration to the people you ask to write your recommendations. To give your application the best possible chance in a competitive environment, it is important that the people who furnish your references know you and can attest to your abilities and accomplishments. The University of Delaware requires submission of a personal statement. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:
- Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
- Discuss experiences that have helped you prepare for your career.
- What are your short- and long-term goals?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
- What other information do you consider important for the selection decision?
- The response to all 5 questions combined may not exceed 1,000 words.
Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent to: DICAS-Transcript Department, P.O. Box 9118, Watertown, MA 02472
University of Delaware Graduate Application
In addition to submitting the DICAS application, all applicants will need to submit a University of Delaware Graduate Application and pay the application fee of $35.00 (credit cards or checks accepted). After submitting your DICAS application, within a few days, you will automatically receive an email from our Graduate College with the link to the Graduate Application. Applicants do not need to upload recommendation letters as these will come from the DICAS application. Your DICAS personal statement can serve as the essay for this application as well. Submission of an unofficial transcript is required for the Graduate Application.
The application checklist can be scanned in and uploaded as supplemental materials as part of the DICAS application or emailed directly to the program director, Beth Schwenk at bschwenk@udel.edu. Supplemental materials are due at the time of application.
Interviews
Internship faculty may request an interview either in person or via Zoom. Applicants interviewed via Zoom must have access to a webcam and microphone. Interview invitations will be sent via email.
