UD Physical Therapy students present at APTA

December 16, 2020 Written by Kelly Bothum

More than a dozen Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students are currently engaged in research, including some who will be presenting at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting 2021 in February. Sixteen DPT students worked with six PT faculty members, resulting in 10 peer-reviewed abstracts that have been accepted for presentation.

The presentations cover topics including understanding opioid use during physical therapy after knee replacement; how the six minute walk test performance is associated with walking after knee replacement; increasing physical activity in the face of pain during Achilles tendinopathy rehabilitation; diversity, equity and inclusion within DPT; and what maximal aerobic capacity tests say about people with chronic stroke.

Students include: Maria Tukis, Thomas Bye, Jangwon Kwon, Justin Mitchell, Samuel Kim, Samantha Bachman, Rachel Knobel, Kendra Lennon, Cali Gadoury, Jaiden Harvey, Leah Ring, Simon Herrera Suarez, Joston Benton, Haley Dolan, Sarah Brown and Kiersten McCartney. Faculty include Dan White, Karin Grävare Silbernagel, Lynn Snyder-Mackler, Adrienne Pinckney, Ellen Wruble and Darcy Reisman.
