Jonathan Starkey
Biography
Since 2022, Jonathan has worked as Chief of Staff to Delaware Governor John Carney, advising the governor on policy and political strategy and overseeing the operations of Delaware state government. He previously worked as the governor’s communications director and deputy chief of staff. During his time in the governor’s office, Jonathan has led public messaging efforts, helping shape and pass priorities including new funding for low-income Delaware students, historic climate change legislation, paid parental leave, and the largest infrastructure plan in state history. Jonathan also managed COVID-19 messaging and communications for Governor Carney and the State of Delaware throughout the pandemic. Previously, he was a newspaper reporter for more than 10 years. Jonathan covered politics and business for The (Wilmington, Del.) News Journal, and his stories also appeared in The Washington Post and Newsday.
