Student Organizations

The Animal Science Club promotes and provides educational opportunities for club members interested in the field of animal science. We accomplish this through informational guest speakers, our yearly regional competition (NESA) volunteering at a local farm and participation in Ag Day. We are a community of novice to advanced beekeepers that provide hands-on experience, educate the vital role pollinators have in our environment, and participate in public outreach. As UD’s official birding club, Blue Hen Birding is a nature oriented club with a focus on giving students the chance to get off campus, explore natural landscapes around the east coast and practice their field ornithology skills – even if they’re not wildlife majors! The University of Delaware Chapter of the Collegiate FFA cordially invites you to become a part of our ever growing FFA family! The chapter gives students the opportunity to engage in community service, volunteer and social events. The purpose of this club is service and leadership and professional development. It is open to all students who wish to support youth and the 4-H experience. Collegiate 4-H is involved in campus activities through the involvement in community service projects and promoting positive youth development. Prior 4-H experience is not necessary. The club brings together students with an interest in entomology to collect insects and peer educate with one another. Part of our mission is to educate the public. The UD Equestrian Team is a club sport that anyone can join. The club has both showing and non-showing aspects. Besides showing, the team is involved in activities such as Ag Carnival and Ag Day, volunteering at riding organizations, such as therapeutic riding, and social activities. For more information, contact Lucy Smith.

The organization is for all students interested in marketing, advertising and the food or agriculture industry. Members have the opportunity to further career development while gaining valuable marketing and presentation skills through group trips, guest speakers, developing marketing plans. The Food Recovery Network at UD is a chapter of FRN National, a non-profit organization working to fight food waste on college campuses and help feed the local community. Join us to learn more about food security, understand the environmental impact of food waste, and rescue excess food from the dining halls each week! For more information please contact, Katie Hamelin.

This organization is about satisfying the interests of our students and expanding their horizons. We are registered with the Philadelphia section of IFT, and by being involved with this professional organization, our students get a real sense of what it means to be a “food scientist.” For more information, contact Madison Thorpe.

The club is a free way to travel to the finest and most popular gardens, arboretums, conservatories and parks around the Delaware area. Members have the opportunity to participate in hands-on work with plants in our own UD greenhouse, as well as the chance to volunteer at Ag Day, the Horticulture Club’s largest fundraiser of the year. The hydroponics club gives members the opportunity to learn about one of the fastest growing fields in agriculture: hydroponics! Members get hands-on experience growing, marketing, and experimenting with plants grown hydroponically. For more information, contact Evyn Appel. 

MANRRS is an organization which helps to promote academic and professional advancement by empowering minorities in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. For more information, contact Morgan Greaves.

The organization will fulfill its stated purpose by gathering students to join local volunteers in public lands of the Newark, Delaware area to remove invasive plant species and replace them with native plant species. For more information, contact Allyson Klabunde.

Open to those interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. All activities are geared toward providing members opportunities to network with peers and professionals, discover and explore the veterinary industry, gain professional and academic support, discuss industry hot topics & prepare for vet school applications. We strive for achievement in scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service, and to further the development of excellence in women pursuing careers in agriculture. As a sorority, we participate in several events such as Ag Carnival, Ag Day and UDance. Women with a love for Agriculture from any major are encouraged to join.
