UDairy Creamery Student Management Team
The student management team is composed of undergraduate students who are responsible for developing and maintaining the UDairy Creamery as an independent, non-profit and sustainable business integrated with the University of Delaware.
Eighty to 100 UD students from across all colleges at the University work all positions at the UDairy Creamery, including serving and producing ice cream, supervising the storefront, managing and serving at events on campus or on the Moo Mobile or working at the Genuardi Food Innovation Lab making our cheese products!
Our students mean the world to us, and we add to our team every spring as our seniors move on. Applications can be dropped off at the Creamery or emailed to udcreamery@udel.edu.

UDairy Creamery Team Member
CONTEXT OF JOB:
Under the general direction of the Newark Management Team, Student Supervisors, and the Student Management Team, the Team Member is responsible for serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner, completing daily tasks to maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment and overall contribute to the student-run atmosphere and experience that is unique to UDairy Creamery. This position requires flexibility between out Newark storefront (serving and production), Go Baby Go Café, Moo Mobile, and off-site events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a University of Delaware Student
- Retail or food handling experience preferred
- Must be able and willing to take direction and instruction from Managers and Student Supervisors
- Must be willing to work in a team environment
- Friendly, welcoming, and hospitable attitude required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve customers in a friendly, respectful and expedient manner
- Follow standard cleaning and sanitizing procedures and safe food handling
- Operate a cash register and accurately accept money and give change
- Work in ice cream production- making ice cream to be served to customers
- Prepare cakes and novelty items
- Prepare and serve items including but not limited to ice cream, milkshakes, sandwiches, hot entrees, specialty coffee drinks and more
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
- Efficiently and courteously serve customers in our retail location (including the Newark
- storefront and go baby go café) and off-site events (both on the Moo Mobile and events on the University campus)
- Complete tasks assigned by Creamery Managers and Student Supervisors
- Take initiative to tackle tasks that maintain clean, sanitized, and organized establishment
- Ability to stock, clean, and inventory working space to help expedite service
- Must be able to work under high stress situations
- Must be willing to interact with customers and answer questions in regards to our mission,
- product, and services or willingly ask for assistance to answer presented questions
- Produce ice cream in an efficient and thorough manner by following written recipes and procedures
- Must be comfortable lifting items weighing 20-30lbs and items weighing 50lbs or more with assistance
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be willing to work in extreme heat, extreme cold, and outdoor settings
- Available to work nights and weekends
