Notes of interest from the Japanese side of the production

The ages for the characters are as follows:

Other character notes:

Kenichi Mifune left home 6 years before the start of the series.

The planning for the series establishes that Daisuke Mifune was the captain of his wrestling team when he was a student. So when this comes up in the series, it wasn't something thrown in for that episode, it was something that had been planned or the character. He has also taught Go Mifune to wrestle, which is why the boy is so good in a fight.

Japanese titles for steering wheel functions:
A - Auto Jack E - Evening Eye
B - Belt Tires F - Frogger
C - Chopper G - Gizmo
D - Defenser H - Homing Equipment

With the exception of the E button, they work just as described in Speed Racer. The E button projects infrared beams, visible with the visor on Go Mifune's helmet allow him to drive on dark roads. This is not clearly explained in Speed Racer, but the rare use of E button makes a whole lot more sense when you know what it is supposed to be doing!
