NFL HENS VISIT

Five NFL Blue Hens visit UD youth football camp

University of Delaware football players never forget their roots, even when they’ve made it all the way to the National Football League.

Five former Blue Hen standouts, all of whom now play in the NFL, are returning to campus this week to speak to participants at the annual youth football camp hosted by UD head coach Dave Brock and his staff.

Defensive back Marcus Burley of the Seattle Seahawks and offensive lineman Erle Ladson of the Cleveland Browns were on hand Monday, tight end Nick Boyle of the Baltimore Ravens was visiting on Tuesday and offensive lineman Gino Gradkowski of the Carolina Panthers will speak on Thursday.

Veteran safety Mike Adams, a two-time All-Pro with the Indianapolis Colts, will also be on hand but his appearance date has yet to be confirmed.

Each of the former players will speak to the campers during the morning session and give pointers on life skills and football skills.

The camp is designed to teach fundamental football skills for all positions for students ages 6-12. Nearly 150 young people are participating in the camp.

UD also will host a single day specialists camp on July 9 and a one-day prospects camp on July 24. Online registration is available for the July 9 and July 24 camps. Go to BlueHens.com, click on the football page under teams, and see football links on the right side of the page.
