I like UNIX, but "The UNIX-Haters Handbook" has become one of my favorite 
references on UNIX problem solving.  My favorite piece is on p. 74:

The problem with sendmail is that the sendmail configuration file is a 
rule-based expert system, but the world of e-mail is not logical, and 
sendmail configuration editors are not experts.

p.s. I heard that Red Hat and Caldera were considering merging to provide 
better support and hence get better corporate acceptance of Linux, but IMHO 
somebody like Dell should buy one or both to get an answer to Compaq 
(Digital (OSF?)) UNIX.  Not that I'd wish for software people to get sucked 
into a hardware organization; more on that and expert systems later...
