The standard scales on the C18 are described Pickett's usual booklets provided with advanced slide rules. The Collins-designed custom scales, however, are described on the fronts and backs of plastic sliderule-size sheets. The slide rule is focused on designing point-to-point microwave links implemented with parabolic antennas and passive reflectors. It is further centered on FDM SSB traffic, a reflection of mid-1960s technology.
