1973 trek in Python

Here are instructions for the Project Delta version of Star Trek, if you need them. The original is missing the all-important ship's Library Computer, so I added that. Use 'b' (for electronic brain). It provides a map of explored regions, range/bearing calculations, and calculator. Now the only thing missing from trek that is in sttr1 is shield control. I wonder why these features were dropped when sttr1 was converted to RSTS/E BASIC.

After downloading the original trek.bas, I spent an evening converting the 1973 BASIC program to python. Then I spent an hour or so converting that to a version that would run on the HP Prime's version of python and libraries. It's the version I played as a teen and is the one I wanted to revitalize.

To play, please download either or both

For the HP Prime, there are a few steps:

  1. Drop Trek.hpappdir.zip into your Prime's Applications folder via the HP Connectivity Kit.
  2. You might have to use the Clear soft button to start the game.

As an electrical engineer, you know the color I had to choose for the Starfleet logo background on the app icon. Have I doomed myself as an unknown red shirter??

Your Apps now include one straight from Starfleet Academy...or maybe it's University of Delaware, 1973.

Game underway!
