Back to 1969 with an Ameco Station

If you QSO with me on my Ameco station, this is it! I bought an AC-1T transmitter kit in March 2019, built a transmit/receive switch, and eventually picked up an R-5A receiver in Spring 2020. Lower on the page are some advertisements to get you in the mindset. Then explore the links immediately below to transmitter, receiver and T/R switch:

  • Building the Ameco AC-1T clone kit.
  • Refurbishing the Ameco R-5A receiver.
  • T/R switch, like a young Novice licensee of the era might have built.

    Ameco Advertisements

Joe W3GMS found likely the first Ameco AC-1 ad. The ad sold me. I think I'll get one! Incidentally, $17 in 1957 is $155 in 2020. The current clone kit is much more expensive than that at $230, possibly because it can't benefit from economy of scale like the original.

    Another ad, QST July 1968.

AC-1 in lower right of Ameco ad.
