I worked in a lab in grad school, heard about the web and thought I'd learn how it worked. The first version of this page in 1993 or '94 was a single picture and a paragraph of text. Sharing so easily was like magic. Personal web pages were uncommon, so any page had a certain (undeserved!) ring of authority that brought questions from magazines and fan clubs. These were people and groups who knew much more about the show than me, and many contributed as the page grew. It was the only Speed page for couple years, I made new friends, spoke with the US voice actors, and just generally learned what a good crowd anime fans are and Speed Racer in particular.

And I still managed to finish grad school! :-D
