7 Ways to Relax and Recharge This Fall Break

Thanksgiving Break is the perfect time to unwind and recharge before coming back to campus for finals. Here are some ways to have the most relaxing time off this week.

Take a hike

Take a nature walk or hike through a nearby park (White Clay Creek State Park is perfect if you’re still near campus!), nature center or just your neighborhood. Enjoy some fresh air and the sights and sounds of nature.

Cook a comfort meal

Whether you are helping to cook Thanksgiving dinner or just looking to try a new recipe, cooking can provide peace and comfort with a rewarding outcome: a delicious meal! Search recipe ideas on Pinterest or Google and find one that looks good for you to try something new!

Disconnect from screens

Take a break from technology and social media to be present with the activities you take part in this week, either in a group or by yourself. It’s always nice to have some time away from our screens to fully be in the moment.

Have a movie marathon

Don’t feel guilty for taking a lazy day! Put on some movies or a show and grab some snacks as you relax your mind and body for the day.

Reconnect with hobbies

You can use this break from the fast-paced semester to go back to the things you enjoy. Working out, painting, reading and baking are some examples of things we might not have time for during the school year, so use your days off to get back to the things you love!

Spend quality time with others

Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family and friends. Whether you are out and about running errands together, or just enjoying each other’s company while staying in, you should take a moment to connect with others and think about what you are thankful for this season.

Use TimelyCare

UD offers free, 24/7 access to virtual mental health support to students through TimelyCare. To get started, make an account with TimelyCare and enter the virtual waiting room where someone will be able to talk to you within minutes. Remember, you can use TimelyCare anytime and anywhere—especially this week when you might be far from campus.
