Posting jobs, internships, interviews

Employers seeking passionate students for jobs and internships can post positions on Handshake. With more than 44,000 UD students and alumni using the platform, you can post your opportunities and receive direct applications. Manage all your campus recruiting needs—from career fair registrations to on-campus interview scheduling—in one place.

Click on the “Employer” area on Handshake. You will be asked to pick your company from the list or create a new company. Any company whose email domain matches yours will be suggested. For example, if your email is me@handshake.com, all companies using handshake.com will be suggested.

These are the employer account creation options depending on your situation:

  • Join company: If your company already exists and you are not the first user, select your company from the list of suggested companies. One of the other Handshake users at that company will need to verify your account before you can access most site features. Handshake will automatically notify your company’s Handshake account owner of your request to join to ensure it is handled in a timely manner.
  • Create company: If your company does not exist in Handshake, you can create a new company. It will start out with the same name as your email domain. For example, if you signed up under me@email.com, the company will be named email.com. Click on the company name, then click “Edit” in the upper-right corner to update your company and complete the profile.

For more information, visit Getting Started With Handshake: Employers.

Log into your Handshake account.

Click on “Jobs” under the Postings section located on the left-hand side and then “Create Job” in the upper-right hand corner.

Complete the fields to “Create Job.”

You can distribute the job posting to one or more universities at which you wish to recruit. The “choose schools” tab will allow you to do so. Select "University of Delaware" in the options to post the job for UD students and alumni.

Handshake job postings need to be approved by the UD Career Center before they can be seen by students.

For more information about job posting, check out Handshake's How to Post a Job video and guide.

Job Shadow

Offered over winter and summer terms, our job shadow program allows students to learn more about various professions, receive career-related advice and reflect on the ways in which their education can prepare them for life after college. Sign up to host a student virtually, for a one-hour informational interview via Zoom OR for an in-person, full day on the job shadowing at your place of employment.

Parker Dewey Micro-Internship Platform

Micro-internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable UD students to demonstrate skills, explore career paths and build their networks as they seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, micro-internships can take place year-round, typically range from five to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kickoff.

BlueHensWork: UD Career Center Funded Micro-Internships

Delaware-based nonprofit, public service or government organizations are invited to engage UD undergraduate students on short-term, paid micro-internships.

Qualifying organizations can have a professional project that requires roughly 20 or 40 hours of work by the student to complete.

There is no cost for qualifying organizations. Micro-grants offered by the UD Career Center cover the payment to Micro-Interns ($600 for 40-hour projects, and $300 for 20-hour projects).
