EPIDEMIOLOGY GRADUATE CERTIFICATE

About the Epidemiology Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Epidemiology is a 12-credit program intended to support individuals who seek additional training in epidemiologic methods and the applied skills needed to address a broad range of health problems.  The Epidemiology Certificate at the University of Delaware is specifically designed for working professionals and those interested in exploring Epidemiology prior to committing to a graduate program. The Certificate curriculum emphasizes practical, applied skills in epidemiological methods and basic biostatistics and prepares graduates in: collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data; developing advanced knowledge of epidemiologic research methods; and conducting an independent research study including the conceptualizing and development of a research question(s), data analysis, and interpretation and dissemination of findings.

The Graduate Certificate in Epidemiology is designed for most students to complete courses part-time or in addition to another graduate degree program and can be completed in one year of part-time study (3-credit hours/semester for two semesters in Fall and Spring and 3-credit hours/session for 2 special sessions in Winter and Summer). All courses have been specially designed and developed for delivery online. Students will be able to register, receive materials, interact with faculty and successfully complete this program without traveling to campus. Note: For students who choose to complete the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology, all 12 credits of the Epidemiology graduate certificate may be applied toward the MPH in Epidemiology degree.

The graduate certificate in Epidemiology requires satisfactory completion of the 4 graduate level courses (12 credits) listed below. Each certificate program course must be completed with a grade no lower than a C-; the overall GPA of the Graduate Certificate in Epidemiology courses must be no lower than 3.0.
