Biography
Professor Robles studies wireless media, technology, and culture in Mexico and among Spanish-speaking immigrants in the United States. She teaches courses in Latin American, Mexican, Borderlands and Latinx history. Her book, Mexican Waves: Radio Broadcasting Along Mexico's Northern Border, 1930-1950 was published by the University of Arizona Press in 2019. Mexican Waves highlights dozens of commercial radio stations established along the northern border by Mexican entrepreneurs whose intention was to be heard by Mexican immigrants in the U.S. Southwest. She's currently working on a project which explores radio advertising among Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S. and she's writing a history of public broadcasting in Mexico.
