Mark McLeod
Biography
A specialist in modern Vietnamese history, Mark W. McLeod teaches World, Asian, and Vietnamese history at the University of Delaware. He received his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1988, with Professor D.R. SarDesai as the main-field advisor. Major works include, as sole author, The Vietnamese Response to French Intervention, 1862-1874 (New York: Praeger, 1991), as translator from the original French, Marie Alexandrine, Cambodia: A Shattered Society (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1994), and, as co-author with Nguyen Thi Dieu, Culture and Customs of Vietnam (Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 2001). He is currently researching politics and religion under the First Vietnamese Republic, 1956-1963.
