Biography

Emily S. Davis specializes in contemporary Global Literature, with a particular focus on the intersections of gender, globalization, genre, and race.  She is the author of Rethinking the Romance Genre: Global Intimacies in Contemporary Literary and Visual Cultures (2013) as well as articles on South African fiction, queer neoliberalism, and human rights. She is currently writing a book about how visions of social justice in contemporary Global literature and activism might help us rethink foundational concepts in human rights discourse such as the universal, the human, the collective, and the good life.
